Use a high-quality scan whenever possible so the restoration model has more usable facial detail to recover.
Raising the original scan resolution, ideally 600 DPI or above, improves texture recognition noticeably.
After restoration, try small brightness adjustments. Different light levels can reveal different layers of detail.
